Manchester Launches MIPIM 2020 Partnership

Everything is Connected: Manchester at MIPIM Partnership launches collaborative theme and new young delegate initiative

The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership held their launch event for 2020 last night (Wednesday, 25 September), revealing the theme Everything is Connected for city’s 21st year at the property conference.

Held at the brand-new Spirit of Manchester Distillery, the launch also featured an announcement about a new initiative which will give partners the chance to involve the next generation from the property world through a discounted delegate rate that can be accessed when signing up to the Partnership.

Taking place in Cannes, France in March, MIPIM is the world’s leading property market, bringing together leading international property professionals across four-days.

Last year 96 companies and 245 delegates represented Greater Manchester as part of the Partnership.

The 2020 launch was attended by leading professionals from across Greater Manchester’s property industry, and included a speech from Sir Richard Leese, Leader of the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership.

Sir Richard Leese said: “MIPIM is not just a property conference, but a branding opportunity like no other, for Manchester and for each and every partner that attends. There are not many exercises like it; where senior leaders and influencers come together, away from Manchester to showcase the city to a global audience – last year we had thousands of delegates from over 160 countries around the world find themselves on the Manchester stand.

“I’m also delighted to announce a new young delegate initiative for 2020. There are many key people who have been with us on the Manchester at MIPIM journey for most, if not all of the past 20 years that we’ve attended, and I am pleased to be able to give the bright minds and rising stars of the property world a chance to be part of MIPIM.”

Manchester at MIPIM is a private sector focused partnership, strategically led by Manchester City Council and coordinated by Marketing Manchester, with the aim of promoting the Greater Manchester city-region to an international audience of property professionals.

Sheona Southern, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester said: “At MIPIM we stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the world’s biggest cities and we always seek to break away from the traditional exhibitor methods by bringing personality and creating an inspirational backdrop for conversation via a carefully curated theme.

“This year is no exception and our new theme, Everything is Connected, will aim to celebrate the very Mancunian way of doing things, which at its best harnesses cross-disciplinary partnerships. Whether that’s science becoming art, technology driving sustainability or culture influencing health, our theme will cut across a variety of important sectors and agendas to create a backdrop for truly meaningful conversation on the Manchester Pavilion.”

MIPIM 2020 will take place 10 - 13 March in Cannes, France.
