Written by Theresa Grant

I’m delighted to be representing Trafford Council for the first time at MIPIM, Cannes this month; profiling a selection of exciting developments including the ‘Altair’ and Carrington schemes.

At the heart of Greater Manchester and with a major role in meeting the city’s growth ambitions and the Northern Powerhouse agenda, Trafford is home to the world famous Manchester United and Lancashire County Cricket Club; as well as household brands including Kelloggs and L’Oreal located at one of the largest industrial estates in Europe – Trafford Park. However Trafford is not only a great place to invest and work; it’s also a great place to live with high quality houses, great schools, and wonderful parks and visitor attractions.

Planning permission has recently been approved for an exciting new development in the heart of Altrincham. Altair phase 1 due to start later this year, will comprise of 150 residential units, 38,000 square feet of high quality office space and 100,000 square feet of restaurant and retail opportunities. With further phases due for completion over the coming years, the development will further enhance Altrincham’s reputation as a major entertainment and leisure destination.

Plans have also been unveiled for the strategic development site at Carrington. The transformation of the 1,660 acre Carrington estate will comprise of over 5,500 new homes and 10,000 jobs, up to 1 million square feet of employment space, a new district centre and will start the creation of a thriving community; improving transport links and job opportunities.

In addition Trafford Waters offers significant residential and employment opportunities with 3,000 new homes and 940,000 square feet of employment floor space planned for the area. The development will link with the planned extension of Manchester Metrolink through Trafford Park.
With an exciting time ahead for growth and development we look forward to meeting new investors and developers to discuss more of our current projects and introduce you to Trafford as an attractive investment opportunity.
